The Amityville Horror Has Awoken Something

I have tried many times to start blogging again but I find that I just couldn't get into it. It was something I once loved when I ran Slice Into Insanity but than a million things in my life changed and it just wasn't something I felt the need to do anymore. Blogs get boring sometimes and they tend to basically write about the same things over and over so you end up reading the same thing on a few dozen blogs. I mean there are a few that stand out but still. Today was different, something made me feel the need to write for the first time in forever.
Sundays in my house are for the lazy, 6 days out of the week are busy and full of adult things that need to be done so if we don't have plans or errands to run we stay in our pajamas and watch movies, catch up on TV shows we are watching, play games or some other lazy thing you can do in your pajamas. While cooking breakfast we were trying to figure out what we wanted to waste our time with for the rest of the day and we decided on watching older horror films and The Amityville Horror ended up being our choice. It's something we haven't watched in a while and something we figured would make for a good marathon to past the day with.
I am going to start with the fact that even though I treat my love for horror films like a religion I had no idea that there are 13 soon to be 14 films in this series. We only own 1-4 and the remake so I guess I dropped the ball somewhere and never looked back plus to be honest when we have watch The Amityville Horror we usually only watch the first one or the remake. The first one is just a great film all around. It has a great storyline, an awesome cast and all around good horror feelings. Even the remake makes for a good time. Basically the same story with a few changes, still has a great feel and I love the casting especially Ryan Reynolds. Who doesn't want to watch the guy who plays Deadpool and is married to the lovely Blake Lively try and kill his family in 1974 in a haunted house. But lets get back on track with where I was going with this rambling post. So we watched the first one and I was happy with our film choice for this Sunday afternoon but than it happened we put on the second one.

From here on out if you haven't seen the film there are going to be spoilers but I figured if you haven't seen it by now you probably won't care to watch it anyways. At first I was like "ok I remember this one better than I though I would" and I was enjoying it, trying to figure out why we never watch it. Than it clicked. There is a reason I have been avoiding this film. Let me start with the cast, its alright not the worst casting but no one stands out to me except the very adorable Diane Franklin but I have a huge problem with her character and I will get into that in a minute. The story line is good till it gets to a point where it should have just ended but they just keep going and going. If you have seen the first movie you know the deal with the house but no they need to go into the back story and bore the stuffing out of you. Yes I know it's a prequel so they are trying to give you back story but I feel like it's not necessary. I was so annoyed at one point that I just got up did some dishes, took my dogs out and lunch prepped for my hubby just to avoid the rest of the movie. Now my big problem with the story line is this... you have this young man who is in the process of being possessed by an evil spirit. So anything bad he does is explainable, his character becomes a jerk and I get it. If I were to be possessed by a demon I'm pretty sure I'd be a jerk but than it happens he starts banging his sister. I hate incest in horror films especially when the one of the characters doesn't have a problem with it. Yes Sonny is possessed by an evil spirit so of course he doesn't see the wrong in it but than you have his sister who is totally fine with the idea of sleeping with her brother. She even confesses to the Priest basically which makes it even worse in my eyes. Than he starts mistreating her and she gets mad like a jealous girlfriend. Of course the mom realizes what's going on and starts blaming the daughter but doesn't do anything about it. So when it comes down to it I am so glad that Sonny killed off his whole family. You have his over abusive father who should have been punched in the balls, the stupid mother who knows the horrors going on with her kids but does nothing, than you have the sister that has no freaking morals and the two little ones who were collateral damage. Now at this point I wish they would have ended the film, "family's dead the end"but no the Priest has to figure out what the deal is and try and save Sonny. I'm sure it was just me but I did not enjoy this second film and I pray to God that I never grab this film out of my collection to watch ever again. From now on I'm going to go 1 than 3, 2 is dead to me.
We only watched 1-3 so I guess it's time to move on to number 4 one day soon. Sorry for the random rambling post but I needed to get that off my chest. I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend and now I must give into adult life and do things that need to be done.

Busy Bee!

I have been a busy busy bee lately, it seems like things start to settle down than something happens and our lives get crazy again. If it's not one thing it's another I guess but that's what happens when you grow up, buy a house and get married. It's the beginning of September, I have no idea where our summer went. I feel like this year has just sailed right by in a fast hurry.
I have been in Halloween mode since August and it's so much fun seeing all the new Halloween stuff come out.  I will say I have a few complaints, one being that I seriously look forward to all of the Halloween magazines coming out which I have been collecting since I was old enough to want to be a house wife surrounded by Halloween. But I noticed what use to cost 3.99-5.99 is now 9.99 or up and they are filled with the same stuff the last few years. It's like they change the cover and up the price. It totally bums be out because it's one of the small things I always look forward to. I had a few things I have wanted to blog about last month like the re-release of Frute Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy cereals, Kool-aid Ghoul-aid Jammers and Starburst candy corn but I have seen a few other blogs already blog about them so I'm moving on because they have done them justice and I don't feel the need to go on about something everyone else has already addressed.
One thing I am super stoked about today is an order from Fright-rags showed up on my porch earlier and it was my Tarman order. I have been waiting like a child waiting for Santa to show up Christmas eve, every time I hear the mail truck turn down our dirt road I would run to the door, he probably thought I was crazy especially since every time I go get the mail it's another medical bill. But today I was busy getting ready and had no idea that he placed the box on my porch not even my dogs knew, what a sneaky man he is. My husband was in the shower and I busted in on him just so he could watch me open the box. We ordered the boxset which came with the coolest box, the most awesome mask and a shirt which we got in my husbands size because I wanted the baseball tee version. This is probably my favorite set from Fright-rags ever and they have released some awesome box sets but for me this one takes the cake. I am a huge Ben Cooper Halloween boxed customs fan and have been collecting them on and off for years when I find ones I love so as soon as I saw this I was in love with the idea. It is way more amazing in person and will look perfect with all of our horror collectables.  Normally I would use my own pictures but I left my phone up stairs and I'm just being lazy. You get the idea. Everyone who loves horror should support Fright-rags because they have the best horror shirts ever and they also come out with great things like this Tarman mask.

Another thing I was able to score the other day at a discounted price was the Draculaura and Operetta Die-ner set. I have been trying not to buy all the extras like furniture and what not because I would much rather dolls take up all the room on my shelves than furniture but I had to have this set because I really just wanted the Operetta out of it  since she is my favorite and I though Draculaura looked totally adorable in her die-ner outfit. To be honest I also got it at a great price so I am good with it. I haven't been on the super hunt lately for the new dolls because moneys been a little on the tight side again new houses = no extra moneys. In order to get the two doll set you have to pick it up at Wal-mart but if your an Operetta fan it's a good move.

I picked up The Lords of Salem on Tuesday, I have been waiting for the film to come out on dvd/blu-ray since I passed on seeing it at the theater in order to do something else that I can't remember and it was only playing the one weekend near me so. If you know anything about me I have been a huge Rob Zombie fan since I was really young listening to White Zombie with my dad. Not only am I a fan of his music I am a fan of his films even both Halloweens (I can already hear my Mister telling me I'm lame haha). My husband doesn't totally agree with my love for Mr. Zombie but that's a whole other story. I picked up the book when it first came out and read it right away and loved it. So I have been waiting patiently for the film and of course when it came out Tuesday I grabbed it as fast as I could. I really enjoyed it. I actually enjoyed Shari Moon, at first I wasn't sure about her because I pretty much only see her as Baby or the chick that dies right away in the Toolbox Murders remake and I wasn't a fan of her as Michaels mother in the Halloween movies but I liked her in the Lords of Salem. I would check it out if you're a fan of horror movies and/or Rob Zombie films, also read the book, it's so good.

Well now that I have drawn this post out into novel instead of a quick read, I will stop. But I will be back soon with another more Halloweenie post, a few horror movie reviews and of course Fall flea markets post. I did plan on doing a few reviews tonight but to be honest I just wanna curl up with my dog boys and watch Supernatural while my Mister plays video games because I am a nerd like that. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Shark Week has taken over my free time!

I have been meaning to do this post since early yesterday but than every time I sat down to write it I ended up doing something else, basically I would start watching Shark Week stuff and it would just take over my life. Who doesn't love Shark Week? Sharks are just so darn cute.
I was out and about the other day and found a few things that I am super stoked about. First off I came across the Home Ick Abbey Bominable and Heath Burns 2-pack, I actually found two at the Target I was at but an older lady wanted to buy her Granddaughter one so I gave her the second one. I know what it's like when I really want a certain doll and I watch someone in front of me buy all of them so I didn't mind, I was only going to buy both so I could keep one in the box and take one out. I actually don't like the Abby doll all that much, her outfit is kinda boring but her shoes are super cute. I do love the Heath doll, he's too cute and I love that he is wearing a little apron and has a little oven mit on. It's a great 2-pack.

I really like the new Monster High stuff coming out. I came across the new plushy pets and they were cute. It's not something I needed but I did end up picking up Draculaura's pet bat Count Fabulous. It was just too adorable to pass up.

I came across a bunch of Monster High clearance stuff. It was just a bunch of stuff I already had or stuff I didn't really want. One of the things I have been wanting but not wanting to pay the price for it was the Create-A-Monster Design Lab, I only wanted the doll out of it so paying $40.00 for it just wasn't something I wanted to do. I love the fact that the doll has no face, your suppose to use the little face tattoos to make a face on her but I actually just want to keep her faceless. Her blank face reminded me of the shapeshifting bounty hunters from the Critters movies. Plus her outfit is really cute and since she was on clearance I ended up paying under $10.00 for her.

I came across the Die-ner set as well but I passed on it since I heard that there is another one coming out that has Draculaura and Operetta. Operetta is my favorite character so I decided on trying to hunt that one down.

Let the fun begin!

I can not believe that it's already August 1st, this year has flown by. It's strange to think that we have already had our new house for a year now and our youngest pup is turning 1 in 6 days. Plus since it's August 1st that also means it's the start to my 3 months of Halloween. As much as I love the warm weather summer brings and hate the cold that winter brings, I can not get enough of Fall and the Halloween season. I had to do some running around today and when I went to Michaels I noticed that they already had some of their Halloween stuff out. I hate when they start putting stuff out too early but Halloween is the one exception.
Another thing that excites me is that finally my Batman and Catwomen Ken and Barbie dolls came in the mail the other day after waiting 5 months on backorder. Not only am I a huge Batman fan and vintage Barbie lover and collector but the two came together and made greatness. They are inspired by the 1960's TV show, the dolls are perfect, their outfits are spot on and the box art is amazing. You couldn't ask for a better set. They fit in perfectly in my Barbie collection.

While I was out doing my running around I also came across another set of new Monster High dolls I didn't have. Not only is the Halloween stuff coming out now but new Monster High dolls are coming out as well. I love the purple in Cleo's hair and Ghoulia dress is super cute.

Gloomy Sundays!

Well here I am on a very gloomy Sunday afternoon, we are suppose to already have left for the Mayhem Festival but of course something had to go wrong with our truck so we are playing the waiting game and waiting on  some friends who are going. Since I was just sitting here I figured why not get a post done.
If you were a follower of my other blog you would know that I am a huge fan of Monster High dolls and have a big collection. Lately the new dolls have started coming out so I have been on the hunt for a few that I feel I can not live without. Recently I have become more picky on the ones I buy because my collection is well over 100 dolls and since I collect other toys like Barbies, horror figures and so on I need to watch that my collection doesn't get out of hand or it will take over my house and I'm not sure my husband will like that very much. The other day we were right by a Toys'R'Us so I stopped in to see if they had anything I was looking for. They had a lot of the new dolls but I only ended up picking up one of them because as cute as the other ones were I need to stick to my guns and only get the ones I really love.
I ended up passing on the Ghoul's Night out dolls but I think I will end up picking up  Spectra one of these days because out of all the versions of her this is probably my favorite.

I passed on this set as well because as cute as they are I just didn't feel the need to add this one to my collection unless I can grab it for a little cheaper one of these days.

I also liked these two but I already have the Picture Day dolls I want except Operetta but I haven't been able to find her in the store yet, I see her online all the time, I'll order her one of these days.

They had the 13 Wishes dolls as well but I am not a huge fan of them except for the two new characters which I just need to pick up since I like to pick up at lease one version of each character especially if it has their pet. I forgot to take a picture but I did end up finding Twyla, I am not totally sure if I like her character yet. Now all I need to find is Gigi Grant and I will be done with the 13 Wishes dolls. I am also on the hunt for the 5  Dance Class pack and the two new Power Ghouls I don't have yet, plus the two pack with Heath and Abbey is at the top of my list.

Something else that I am super stoked about is that finally my Toxic Avenger shirt from Fright-Rags finally came in the mail Friday. Hands down Fright-Rags make the best horror shirts and when I saw the were doing a Toxic Avenger shirt I knew I had to have it especially since it came in baseball style t-shirt. Not only am I in love with the print but the shirt is so soft and comfy.
It's baby Toxie approved!

Well I should probably get ready to go since we have to leave soon, hope everyone is enjoying there Sunday, I know once I get to Mayhem fest I will be enjoying my Sunday a little more!

Spring Breakers

I felt my first film review on my new blog should have been horror related but than the movie Spring Breakers happened. I am a huge Harmony Korine fan, honestly Gummo is one of my top 10 favorite movies so since than I became a fan of Harmony's work. I really enjoy his outlook and the rawness in his films. Yes after watching his films I feel like I need a shower but I think that's a good thing.
I didn't know anything about Spring Breakers because it's been a few years since he has put out a full length film so I had no idea that he had a new one coming out and honestly the name of the film would have thrown me off. My Mister call me the other day from work and told me that there was a new Harmony Korine film and so I had to find it and watch it, our library ended up having it.  I was super stoked.
I can say that it's totally a Harmony film because it gave me the feeling of needing to shower afterwards. I was surprised at the cast but very pleased. It stars James Franco, Ashley Benson (I am a huge Pretty Little Liars fan), Vanessa Hudgens, Selena Gomez and Rachel Korine. Four girls, Faith, Brit, Candy and Cotty want to go on spring break in Florida but they don't have the money but after Brit and Candy rob a restaurant they do. Once at spring break it is all parting, drinking, drugs and stupidity. They all end up getting arrested at a party that gets out of hand and a rapper named Alien (James Franco) bails them out. First Faith leaves because she is uncomfortable with Alien and his lifestyle. Cotty ends up being shot in a drive by after a run in with Alien's rival Big Arch so she returns home but Brit and Candy decide to stay. Now that it's just Alien and the two girls of course a sexual relationship between the three of them starts up and they decide they need to get revenge on Big Arch. It's not a great story line at all but it is good for what it is, I enjoyed it and will probably watch it again very soon. It's silly and makes you laugh. If your a Harmony Korine fan check it out and I'm sure you'll love it. It's worth a watch.

Starting Over!

This is my first post on this Blog. I spent the last 5+ years blogging on Slice Into Insanity but sometimes things come to an end. The last few years have been all over the place, big changes were made and other things that just took me away. Now that I feel I have the time and mindset to get back to doing something I love I decided I needed a new start. So here we are, I am now realizing starting over can be hard but I'm sure things will be great. So bear with me.

  XOXO,
